There are no set qualifications needed to apply for this programme.

Trainees will be chosen based on portfolio or any previous creative work.

 

Maybe you have experience or training in allied skills:

Are you an actor, director or stage manager?

Have you studied or worked in fashion design, interior design,

architecture, carnival, events?

Genesis Theatre Design Programme

is a free training and mentoring course 

for Black and Global Majority applicants, who are

from socially and economically challenging backgrounds, who want to pursue a career

in theatre as a

 

Performance Designer

Costume Designer​

Stage Designer

Director / Designer

This is a free two-year part-time course
which will incorporate:

Bespoke development opportunities,
Practice-based learning,
Access to leading industry professionals,
Practical on-the-job technical training
in partner theatres.

Each course runs for six terms of study,

with a seventh term on placement.

 

Classes are held

on two or three evenings each week, 

with one full day every Saturday.

 

Weekday sessions will mostly take place

in our design studio and workshops at

Mulberry UTC in the Heart of Bow, East London.

 

Saturday sessions will be split between

 the National Theatre

and The School of Historical Dress,

both in South London.

The Genesis Theatre Design Programme is funded by
the Genesis Foundation, National Theatre Foundation,
with additional support from the James Family Charitable Trust.
